Electronic Resources  These databases will be helpful in providing information about your selected play and playwright and theatre in general.

  • Gale Discovering Collection  has great overview articles on various topics related to drama and theater.  Look up people (e.g. Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Moliere, Williams, Simon) or objects, ideas, concepts (miracle play, Globe Theatre, theater of the absurd). 

  • Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated  Another terrific biographical resource with substantial entries on many of the individuals on the list. 

  • EBSCOhost has articles about and reviews of many plays productions.

  • Historical New York Times has articles and reviews of theatrical productions, particularly those in New York City.  Covers 1851 through 2001.

  • Theatre Database  A commercial site, but with many entries on people, plays, and other aspects of the theatre world.

  • Theatre History on the Web  Divided into historical time frames, this site is maintained by the University of Washington.

  • Arts Lynx Theatre History Resources  Links for various sites, arranged by historical time frames.  This site is maintained by Artslynx International Theatre Resources.

  • History of Theatre  Under "Links" (Toward the bottom of the page), various icons representing a variety of time periods take the user to many additional links.  Maintained by Webster University.

Playbill  To create your playbill, start from scratch, or download the sample brochure below and use it as a template.  Your playbill must include the components shown in the template, as described by Ms. Dodge.

  • Sample Playbill  Uses 8-1/2 by 11 (letter size) paper with landscape orientation. There are 4 short, wide "panels." A third page (2 "panels") will be an insert.


BIbliography  Be sure to cite your sources on your playbill--under the Acknowledgments section in the center back panel.  See the Bib Style Sheet or check pages 41-45 of your planner.
