Special Dietary Needs
If your child has special dietary needs, contact the Food Service Office at 319-688-1021 so appropriate meals can be provided. A written physician's request is required.
General Information -- School Dining System and Account Payments:
- Students have the same unique five (5) digit identification number, as long as they are enrolled in our district. All students, regardless of payment status, can deposit any amount of money in their account for purchasing meals and/or milk only.
- Students qualifying for free meals do not need money in an account for meals, but must have money if purchasing only milk. We recommend making account deposits using a check or money order made to: "School Name" Food Service.
- We are not responsible for any cash payments sent to school. Student meal account payments must be labeled with the student's full name and teacher. Families are encouraged to pay with checks or money orders, not cash.
- If purchasing for more than one child in the same building, list the information for each child on the payment, we do not need separate checks. Please do not send unlabeled payments to school. Students give payments to their teacher each morning. Using these guidelines helps accurate accounting of your money. A $12.00 fee is charged to your child's account for each insufficient fund check.
- All student account balances (positive and negative) from the previous school year carry over to the new school year.
- Once accounts drop below "0," low balance notices are sent home with the students. There is an elementary charge limit of 3 meals, so please keep track of your student’s balance. When payment is not sent after 3 charges, children will not be served the printed lunch menu; instead they will receive a cheese sandwich and milk. Any time there is a question about your child's meals, please contact the food service staff in your building or the food service office at 319-688-1254.
- Please check your student's account balance to help prevent negative balances. Remember, these are not charge accounts. If you have access to the Internet, please contact Jackie Andresen (at: Andresen.jackie@iccsd.k12.ia.us or call at: 319-688-1254) to get your password and ID for website account access.
- If your student is graduating, balances can be transferred to a sibling and/or refunded. If your family is leaving the district, account balances will be refunded. Any family needing a refund, please send your name and mailing address to the food service lead or manager in your student's building or contact Jackie Andresen or Diane Duncan-Goldsmith so a refund can be issued.
School Dining Website:
A website is available to access information about your student's account, where families can check account balances, look at purchase history, and sign up for e-mail notifications regarding a student's account at: http://fs-pos.iccsd.k12.ia.us/.
Our district does not have family accounts; each account is separate. Therefore, when logging onto this site, you need an ID and password for each student.
If you are not already using this website, please contact Jackie Andresen at: andresen.jackie@iccsd.k12.ia.us or call 319-688-1254 to obtain your password and ID. Thank you in advance for your help and have a great year!
There is also a link to the website, under the "School Meals and Nutrition" heading, on the District's home page at http://www.iccsd.k12.ia.us. The food service office can also be contacted with questions at 319-688-1254.
Once your user name and password are entered, the name of the child linked to this log in will appear under the tab "your reports." You will need a user name and password for each child. At this time, account deposits cannot be made online. The website does not give anyone access to financial or student information.

Iowa Eligibility Applications (free or reduced price meals)
Returning Families:
Each year, all returning families who received benefits last year need to complete one Iowa Eligibility Application for all children living in your home. Only one application per household is needed, as long as all family members living in the home and each person's income is listed on the form. Do not include foster children. Each foster child needs a separate application and is considered a household of one.
Please list all required information on the form since applications missing information cannot be approved. To keep last year's benefits, a 2010-2011 form must be turned in by Thursday, September 30, 2010.
- Download a 2010-2011 Iowa Eligibility Application.
- Download a 2009-2010 Iowa Eligibility Application, Spanish version.
Return the form to either the school your oldest child attends or to the ICCSD Food Service Office at 1155 S. Riverside Dr, Iowa City, IA 52246.
New Families:
Families new to the district for 2010-2011 wanting to apply for meal benefits must complete a form when registering your child(ren) for school. Families without an approved application on file are charged full price for all school meals until a form is turned in and approved.
