The

instructional
materials, professional books, professional journals,
audiovisual equipment, supplementary textbooks, art panels and videotapes to
be circulated.

Media Catalog.
-
Instructional
materials include print and non-print materials
available for loan to schools. Responsibility for selection
of materials to purchase lies with the
District
Library Coordinator, who receives suggestions from curriculum
coordinators, LARS, principals and building teacher
librarians. Materials purchased should be items:
-
Not readily
available in the district elsewhere
-
Costing over
$100 and therefore deemed too expensive for
building-level purchase
-
Sharable in
nature so that no one school need hold the materials all
year.
-
Professional
books are references of use to teachers, coordinators
and administrators. Responsibility for selection lies with
the District Library Coordinator. Books purchased should have
reference value for professionals in the district. Input for
selection of these books comes largely from coordinators who
in turn encourage the use of these titles by professional
staff in the district. The
Grant Wood AEA professional
collection is an additional source for such books.
-
Professional
periodicals are subscribed to by the District Media
Center in response to requests from coordinators,
administrators and media specialists. Input on these
journals is requested on an annual basis. The journals are
routed based upon requests by teacher librarians,
coordinators and administrators at the beginning of each
school year.

-
Curriculum Guides
produced in the district are
available at the District Media Center for all subject
areas. Check with your curriculum coordinator for further
information.
