Cablecasting of School Programming

The Iowa City Community School District operates an Educational Channel on the cable TV system. 

To arrange for a program to be cablecast on the channel, contact the District Media and Technology Center.

The following information will be needed:

1. Title of taped program

2. Length of program

3. School

The program will then be scheduled for replay on the cable channel.

Provided that two weeks notice of the date of replay is given, District Media will arrange to include the program in the local newspaper’s television schedule. Publicizing the program beyond that will be the responsibility of the sponsoring school.

Copyright laws must be considered when replaying tapes of school events. A photo/video release form must be completed if students are featured in videotapes to be aired publicly.

When the program is a student production, the student video checklist is recommended as a means of evaluating the production.
